CREATIVITY

As I grow up, I believe that as a child I was way more open to creativity. I believe that once a child becomes a student and starts kindergarten as they progress through school the creativity slowly seeps away. Now, as a high schooler I am very aware of the importance of school and learning, but some of the very important traits are scraped away from many students. I take honors classes, a language, and many others. When I think back to when I was a kid I could create a mansion out of a box, of all things a BOX. All children have a slightly creative side in themselves, but most of the creativity gets turned off once a teacher would tell someone to “not draw” or “that career won’t get you anywhere”. Many careers in the art or music field are seen as silly by many people. If I am in a car, doing homework, bored, studying, the list could go on, I am usually listening to music. Everyone is different but the variety of music is so wide that there is a genre for every type of personality. When it comes to drawing, it does not matter who you are, everyone has had a creative side. Some people once they are older say things like “art is a waste of time” or “there is no need for music” but these two ideas are far from correct. I feel that in schools children should be able to have an opportunity to draw, feel music, think freely, be creative, learn something that they REALLY want to learn about. If everyone is kept away from all things involving creativity, I believe that the world would be a very bland place. The more opportunities for children, teenagers, and even adults to be creative is better. Architecture, design, poetry, art, writing, these are all things that are very important to society… but no one seems to be able to allow these young minds to use their creative ideas or try something that might not end up being successful. The key for having new inventions, future breakthroughs, and more has to come from having a creative and free thinking mind. Think about some of the famous and successful artists, inventors, architects, and authors and see that creativity is what is lacking in many, and is needed to be brought back into education. In the future there may be ways for people to know every possible thing in a text book in the blink of an eye, but no one could make their own creativity appear. So all I ask is to keep in mind how important creativity is and if you could make a change, feel free to do it, even allowing a small break for drawing or free thinking (creating a personal project) could be a great start to preserving the creativity in ones mind. That’s all for now, have a nice day!
